Backseat Knitter
As you all may have guessed by now from the sporadic blog posts around here, my knitting has seriously taken a backseat to life lately. I could blame it on my kiddos and the fact that they keep me hopping or I could say that the quickly approaching holidays are what have gained my major focus but neither of those would be true, not entirely anyway. I’ll confess that there have been a few things (not worth going into) that have contributed to my knitting rut as I have fondly labeled it.
Fortunately however the negativity that was my major affliction seems to have dissipated and I feel like I’m getting my mojo back. I’m starting to look at yarn and needles again and seeing the promise of good things just waiting to be created.
I’ve started the famous baby surprise jacket by Elizabeth Zimmerman for Cupcake and I really love the Nayades colorway of the handpainted wool. You don’t know how close I actually came to nixing the BSJ and opting for a so called scarf for me which is seriously saying something as pink and purple are hardly my favorite colors. As with many EZ recipes I am finding myself wondering how she ever in a million years came up with these plans of hers and cannot wait to get to a point where I actually recognize which portion of knitting will be the sleeve, the neck and so forth. I’m still waiting on a zipper to completely finish Ladybug’s bog jacket and will also confess that the funk I was in led me to rip the entire i-cord edge which was just bugging me for some reason. I added a couple inches of extra length and redid the edging much to my satisfaction. I’ll probably post another picture when all is said and done.
And on the home front we are in full scale preparation for the upcoming Boo day. We carved pumpkins the night before last though we skipped out on the ornate pumpkin master carvings we usually go with. Simple felt really good this year. This weekend we’ll be making caramel and candied apples. We will be making a trip to a local hot spot with a corn maze, pumpkin house, hay creatures, and haunted trails, for a little Halloween revelry and some groovy photo ops hopefully.
Candy, candy, candy… Does anyone else remember Garfield’s Halloween adventure as well as I do?

I’m so glad to see you back here! I nearly wrote last night to see if you were okay. :O) Sounds as if you are okay, just busy and taking a break. But I sure do miss reading here when you don’t post! :O) I missed a few days of knitting myself, for no reason other than I’d knit a whole lot, and needed a break. it makes me feel vaguely guilty not to knit! But my break is over, and so’s yours girl! Love the BSJ, and the happy pumpkins! I send hugs to you and the girlies. My dgd loves her “Mickey” by the way. Talk soon, friend,

I remember Garfield’s Halloween. It looks like you took a much needed knitting rest. If I think about how much you did this past summer, I’m tired for you.
Glas to hear from you again - and the pumpkins are great.
We’ll get you over to the pink side of yarn yet!!
