Unhappy Camper

waiting sucks

We’ll I’ve waited all day…patiently I might add for the big brown truck to roll up into my driveway. Morning became afternoon and as the clock neared 5:00 I began to worry. So here I am at 10:33 finally facing the realization that there will be no Harry Potter for me today and since tomorrow is Sunday I am not likely to see Hogwarts until Monday. As my fellow Potterites can imagine I am pretty pissed. (Of course none of you are probably reading this post because you lucky sods have the book already—Gah!) I intend to give some poor unsuspecting driver one hell of a hard time when they do arrive with the book that I paid extra to receive today…Dammit! (BTW, not my cat though his pose totally reflects my mood today…Dammit!)

On the upside Amazon should be giving me some money back so I think another knitting book is probably in order.

Oh and I worked a bit on the fall cardi/hoodie? Don’t you just love the endless possibilities? I was unhappy with the way the cast on originally looked so I ripped it and began again with a provisional one. I like leaving my options open so that if for some reason I change my mind about making said jacket/cardi into a hoodie I will still have plenty of viable options. This is what I can tell you about the hoodie so far: It is a seamless two- tone raglan worked from the top down which means that while I work on the yoke area I amĀ  incorporating a different ball with each section. This has added a tiny degree of difficulty for me personally since I normally knit while my yarn is still in my knitting bag. That method is unsurpassed for keeping tiny grabby hands off the wool, but completely unacceptable for this project. Well, unless I want to end up with a tangled rat’s nest of yarn…um no, not on top of my HP disappointment. So I have devised a fairly simple system that seems to be working alarmingly well. I have all my yarn balls arranged on the right hand side of me and as I change colors/sections I just do a little over-under move with the new ball and everything is kopasetic. I think the idea of top down and seamless with more than one color that is not fair isle or steeked is exciting and for me it is worth the little extra effort to get past the yoke. Once I’m past that point the project will be more portable and the rest should whizz by.

I’m so sorry to hear about HP. I paced and knit all afternoon in fear that mine wouldn’t be delivered, but it did finally arrive.

I hope yours arrives Monday! Just think, if you get it during the work week you’ll be forced to read it over the course of a few days. That way you get to savor this last little bit of HP goodness. :)

That’s a bummer about the books–especially since they promised to deliver! Mine came in the regular post but I’m reading it slowly.

    The cat photo is priceless.

What happened you (and a few other of my friends) is EXACTLY why I didn’t pre-order the HP book from Amamzon. I simply reserved a copy at a nearby Borders and picked it up at 9 am yesterday. I finished the book last night :)
looking forward to seeing the cardi/hoodie/whatever !

The knitting sounds good - sorry about the book.
I guess you don’t want to hear that I walked by about 100 of them (in two different stores) and didn’t buy either?

Hello Jacque!!! Our HP came in the post today!!! Hubby is out on the deck reading. :O) Hope yours arrived too. Because we are a small town, the mailing for us was later than the big centres. Some excuse!! We want to read it too! samm

Hi Jaque…I tried emailing, but apparently something isn’t set up right on my computer. Anyway…I’m not much of a knitter; I have a machine, but prefer crochet. I do, however, have a recently discovered knack for converting knit patterns to crochet. I recently converted your Zodiac Sleep Sack pattern. I probably should have asked first, so apologies for doing so late. (If you’d prefer that I not post it, please let me know, and I’ll take it down immediately.) I just thought you might like to see the pattern. I’ve asked folks to send pictures if they use it, so hopefully I’ll have some soon. Thank you for all your hard work in creating the pattern. As I told someone recently, I don’t have the creativity to develop one from scratch, but converting allows me to feel like I’m accomplishing something someone else will benefit from. Thanks again.
