Little bonnet on the prarie
I love making precious little hats for precious little heads…normally. Unfortunately Cupcake has this horrible habit of pulling any and everything off of her head which is something I don’t remember Ladybug doing. So I decided that I would give the baby bonnet in Last Minute Knitted Gifts a try. It is a cute pattern if that early American/colonial look is your thing, but I’ve never been one for little bonnet-ed heads. I don’t know what I was thinking really.

So the pattern was a quickie nighttime night and very easy, but now Cupcake looks like a cross between Laura Ingalls and Barney thanks to the really purple merino this is knit in. All she needs is a calico dress to complete this horrifying picture. It’s just scary really so I will probably make her another ripple eyelet baby hat with a few added repeats and a few more cast on stitches to accommodate that little melon of hers. I was thinking I would add some cutesy ear-flaps with braided pom ties to keep the darn thing on her. Maybe I’ll just do a baby animal crackers chullo? We’ll see what happens.

Think of it this way, it’s a good “inside” hat.
I think it’s cute.

I think it is cute too. As long as you learn from the experience right?
Have you tried the sweet baby cap??? It has ties and is tooo cute and a quick knit.

Okay, your Barney reference has me cracking up. I didn’t have luck with hats when DS was little but he’s crazy about hats of all styles now.
