1st Blogiversary- Contest
Let’s have a contest
Wow. I can’t really believe I’ve been doing this for a year now and all that has happened in that time.
This time last year…
I was literally waddling around trying to keep cool while awaiting the arrival of our own little Cupcake. Now she is walking and has her first b’day in October! She was the final puzzle piece for our family and has captured all our hearts.
Ladybug was a shy little girl just starting preschool. She really came out of her shell this last year. Seeing her with her new haircut (courtesy of my brother the stylist) makes me realize how much she has grown. That fuchsia streak was necessary for self expression and as you know, self expression feeds the soul! I’m so proud of my amazing girl!
I was still toying with putting the sketches in my head into reality. I had just submitted my first pattern to Knitty and was doing some serious finger crossing in hopes that it would get accepted. So many doors have opened since. I just released my first sale pattern yesterday and hope to have plenty more in the coming year.
It’s funny when you think of how many changes have happened. The baby, the girl, the designs, even the face of the blog has changed a few times. I haven’t been doing much knitting that hasn’t had a submission purpose, which is to be expected a little.
A good friend once asked me why I would ever want to knit something of someone else’s when I have sketchbooks full of my own ideas. My answer was that sometimes you just want downtime knitting without having to worry about the math or the ease, or the correct placement of this or that. I also think that it is important to knit the things out there that I like because it is all a big learning process. I’ve had sketches in my head for a long time, but before I began knitting there was no process for them.
Every time I knit something I learn something new, which for me is part of the fun. I hope that the coming year brings as many good changes, new friends, and surprises as this one has.

I thought I at least had until 4 or 5 to still have the right to pick her clothes for her, no siree!! I like the style of your blog. Good luck with the pattern designing. One can never have too many patterns to choose from.

Isn’t it amazing how we can look back and see how much we’ve developed in such a short time?
I must say the most impressive thing about your designs in this last year is how much variety there is. So many designers stick to a formula, but you’ve embraced many different styles.

I love that red streak. I just had some purple extensions taken out because I can’t wear them due to corporate dress code, but I used to have red streaks like that all over my hair. They were a big hit with everybody.
What a cute girl you have! That color looks even better on her than it did on me.
