First things first…

It is time for those of us in the online knitting community to pitch in and help out one of our own. Annie Modesitt and her family are facing a battle with cancer. As you know Annie is an amazing designer who has given us knitting wisdom as well as tons of beautiful patterns to knit. She is offering a gorgeous pattern for download that can be yours for a small donation that will go directly to her husband Gerry’s health fund.

I also have a few cutesies to show you before I put them in the gallery.

A multi color version of Hey Mickey using leftovers of Rowan All- Seasons cotton. Megan was considering entering the Knitty calendar contest so here’s wishing her the best of luck! Megan blogs here .

I am in love with this baby Yankee sleepsack from the Zodiac pattern knit by Jenny S. Not only are her color choices great, but what a good substitute for the astrological sign. Great Job Jenny!

Kate is part of the dynamic duo over here. She and her knitting buddy Robin have this really great ongoing knitting conversation that they host at their joint blog k2tog.

Kate has promised me modelled shots once she gets them, but here’s what I know about her version. She chose a very elegant navy and white combination and tells me that the white yarn has a bit of girly-girl sparkle. I love the way the lime ribbon sets the whole thing off. Check out their blog!

And last but most certainly not least is the Hey Mickey knit by fellow Knitty designer, my good friend Vyvyan Neel. She used discontinued colors of Lion Brand cotton in bubblegum and pineapple. There are more details on her blog.I have had a lot of people who have knit Hey Mickey in 2 or more colors tell me what a PITA it was to weave in all those ends, so I thought I’d share a tip: on this particular pattern I knit in as many ends as I could as I knit. When it was time to finish it up there were only a few that needed weaving in. I probably included this tip in the original pattern, but as you know by now I tend to be a bit wordy so it may have been edited out.

I love that dress, and it’s for such a good cause… I may have to get that pattern.

Those are some cute pictures. Even the Yankee Zodiac, and that’s saying something, coming from a rabid Red Sox fan.

I too, wove/weaved/wiven in the ends as I worked up the Hey Mickie. I even took the opportunity to teach myself a new trick while I was at it. Up until then I’d only wove my ends in when knitting from right to left, but since I don’t turn my work, I had to come up with some way to do it going from left to right. And I did! Yay! It’s just way too hard to explain though so I’ll keep it to myself until I figure out how to do tutorials with video.

Aw, thank you so much for the nice compliments on the Yankee sack. The recipient absolutely loved it & went on and on about what a clever idea the design was. :)
