Stupid Cold, My 1st Clapotis, and Yarn PrOn
First of all, I was the very unhappy recipient of some pre-school germs (little monsters) and am now suffering form a summer cold (yes I realize it is September, but in Texas the only difference is that there is occasionally a breeze). It’s not as if pregnancy weren’t enough to deal with (only 22 days to go YEAH!), but I can’t take anything for the stupid cold without getting drowsy. And for those of you without kids, cat-napping on the couch while your 3 year old pokes at you and completely ignores the fact that her father is sitting in the same room but would rather bug you to help her instead IS NOT FUN. So I might as well go drug fee and busy myself with knitting on the couch and watching the Texans game.
Now I’ll get off the soapbox…
I just started my first clapotis yesterday. I like the pattern so far though I am still only at the increase stage. I kept having to unknit because I was forgetting to pfb at the end of the odd rows. It looks a little weird but I can see where the dropped stitches will be. I think I am going to add an extra increase or two. We’ll see.
On another note my alpaca yarn arrived. I ordered 1800 yards of three different colors and let me say that this stuff is soooofffft. It’s like Buttah. I know it is way too hot in Texas for the loverly alpaca, but I don’t care. I will avoid heated places in the wintertime in order to be able to wear this stuff. It’s that good. I love alpaca!
Here it is in walnut, and isn’t the chocolate color amazing?. I think it would like too be the giraffe turtleneck from Knitty. Who knows maybe I’ll just dump it on my bed and roll around in it. I love alpaca.
The charcoal color is my least favorite, but it is still very nice. My hubby might get a sweater out of this one if he’s really good…that is, if I decide to share. Have I mentioned how much I love the alpaca yumminess? Have I? Well I doooooo!

the alpace looks gorgeous - especially the walnut. I think I’m going to have to order some. Jeanette (Picasso from Knitty)

Very nice pr0n! That’s some fabulous yarn right there. When I started my Clapotis, I thought it was kind of meh, until I started dropping stitches. The more stitches you drop, the more drapey and elegant it gets, and it’s sort of addictive. I know I kept knitting just to get a chance to drop one more stitch! Can’t wait to see the finished product.
