Eyelet edges

August 25th, 2006 by Jacque

It hardly seems fair to offer this as an “original” pattern. It’s super easy and I’m sure I’m not the first to try this simple increase shawl, but here it is anyway.

This pattern is great when you aren’t sure that you have enough yarn because it is started from the bottom point of the triangle and worked up & out, if you will.

You will Need:

  • approximately 400 yards of any yarn, but more or less will do! (great for novelty stuff) I used five 82 yard balls of Lion Brand Moonlight Mohair in Mountain Majesty.
  • US15 needles. You want an open airy fabric.

Pattern: Cast on 2 sts.

K1, YO, knit across every row (until you have reached your desired length).

Add fringe, a tassel, or lace the eyelets with a coordinating ribbon though the edge is pretty enough to be left alone.
